H&R Environmental awareness is a part of everyday life and at H&R ANZ we have demonstrated our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment through a comprehensive strategy to Reduce, Reuse or Recycle our waste streams.

In Australia, our main initiative has been the installation of the Liquid Waste Treatment Plant.

Previously a waste stream of a wax/water mix was dumped as prescribed liquid waste.

The new plant separates the water from the wax creating two materials that can now be recycled for manufacturing wax emulsions.

The Plant features a thin film Evapourator that strips the water from the mix allowing the components to be reused.

Also prescribed solid waste, made up of wax line flushings and filter cake did require treatment before becoming landfill. Recent efforts have reduced the amount of waste created. Any waste that cannot be currently reused is now going directly to a composting farm where the wax breaks down and together with the clay in the filter cake, become soil suitable for farms and gardens.

Other recent initiatives include separating our general waste into recyclable streams, including:

  • Unwanted Wooden Pallets are now are sent to a recycler where they become garden mulch

  • Incoming Cardboard Pallets are used as dunnage in outgoing overseas containers

  • Other unwanted Cardboard is separated into bins and reused in local cardboard manufacture

  • Office paper, also know as ââ?¬Ë?white paperââ?¬â?¢, is separated and recycled as paper

  • Stretch wrap is now segregated and reused at a local plastics plant

  • All scrap metal, including aluminium cans are recycled

All these initiatives illustrate that the people at H&R Australia and New Zealand are dedicated to leading by example in everything we do, including looking after the Environment.
